Solar Power Installation

Post by TheMews »

The Strata Company is currently investigating the benefits of installing a solar power generation system.

A solar generation system has the following benefits:

1. Reduces electricity use from the grid. Systems that use electricity during the day will use the free solar electricity generated rather than using electricity from the grid. An example of these systems are:
  • Irrigation Pump
  • Pool Pump and Chlorinator
  • Vehicle Gates
  • Security Systems (eg Cameras)

We have started working with several installers that specialise in solar generation to understand the costs and benefits.

The following picture shows the proposed panel location at the north/east corner of the complex:

The following chart shows the expected average daily power generation for each month of the year for 3 different solar generation systems (based on the location and elevations of the panels):

The system has now been operational for just under 3 months and is already leading to significant savings.

There savings can be seen on the power bills: /powerbills
