Security Improvements - Closure of pedestrian entry points

Post by TheMews »

As part of continuing efforts to better secure the complex works will start shortly to close 2 of the pedestrian entry points.

Entry points to be closed:
  • Charles Street South Entrance (with stairs)
  • Visitor Car Park - Centre Entry
Tasks to be completed (Charles Street South Entrance)
  • Fencing around the front steps will be removed.
  • Brick steps will be removed and a wall constructed that lines up and is level with the current retaining wall facing Charles Street.
  • A new fencing panel will be installed so the fence continues over the new retaining wall section.
  • After mortar has dried sufficiently (1-2 weeks) the wall will be backfilled and the garden extended over the area.

Tasks to be completed (Visitor Car Park - Centre Entry)
  • Gate will be removed and replaced with a fencing panel cut to fit.

We have attached some monitoring equipment to both gates to gather statistics.

The results show that most people are using the North gate to access the property, with less that 20% of gate operations coming from the south gate.
