Lighting Issues - due to heavy rains

Post by TheMews »

We are experiencing issues with some sections of lighting lighting due to the heavy rains.

Currently the following sections of lighting are not working.
  • Rear Building - Ground Floor
  • Rear Building - First Floor
The issue is currently being investigated

We have arranged an electrical contractor to attend the site and investigate.

An electrical contractor has inspected the complex and reported the following:

- Issues are a result of many of the light fittings leaking small amounts of electricity.
- light fittings are full of spider web and when this becomes damp it is a contributing factor.

Actions taken:

- Spider webs have been removed from light fittings
- The contractor is working on a quote to replace large sections of lighting.

June 2015

Over the last 6 months much work has been done on the lighting in both buildings to try and fix the issues that occur during heavy rains.
- Lighting fixtures have been cleaned of debris.
- All non-essential components in the light fittings have been removed/disconnected.
- Breakers have been replaced to eliminate them as the source of the issue.

Unfortunately this has not rectified the issues as lighting in sections of both buildings tripped out during the first heavy rains in May this year.

We are now looking at replacing all of the lighting in the front building to try and resolve the issue and if this is successful we will perform the same changes in the rear building.
