The bore pump is losing prime and requires maintenance, the following issues exist:
  • Check valve below pump is not holding water.
  • The seal between the pump shaft and the pump is leaking water.

20/01/2012 : Repair company was not able to service the pump as it is too badly corroded. They have suggested replacing with a new pump at a cost of $1200 (not including installation).

03/02/2012 : Attempted to return the pump to the well.

Whilst in the process of returning the pump to the well I was berated by one of the owners for performing this work. This owner has threatened to report me to "all of the authorities".

Work has ceased on this item for the moment until we can validate the owners concerns.

07/02/2012 : I have been checking with authorities and I can find no-one that can confirm there are any permits or licenses required to enter a well or work on a pump, with the exclusion of the electrical connection (which was performed by an electrician)

This particular owner has been troublesome in the past, at one stage physically poking me in the chest whilst yelling about another issue. With this in mind I am no-longer willing to work on the existing pump, so a new pump must be installed (as recommended by the repairer).

The cost of installing a new pump is: $2830.

Hi Saxon

Thanks for the order.

I confirm we will replace your existing 5HP centrifugal pump with a new 5HP Lowara pump. We will replace the mounting supports at base of well. $3113 incl GST. At this stage it is anticipated we will do this work this coming Friday or Monday. We have ordered the pump.

As discussed I reiterate that we cannot guarantee the state of your borehole “spear” beneath the pump and it’s serviceability or practical lifespan left. Our quotation does not include replacing control equipment or any attendant electrical work required . Our quotation does not include a check valve and if found required it would be at additional cost.

Thanks for the order

Regards

13/02/2013 : New pump was installed and all stations have been tested and are working ok.

The new pump appears to be delivering noticeably more water to the grounds.
