Replacement of lighting - front carport area

Problem : Lighting in the front carport are is rusty and leaking small amounts of electricity causing the circuit to trip off when the weather is wet.

Solution : Remove existing lighting (6 x 36w fluorescent tube) and replace with 11x standard ES bayonet and 5w LED globes.

Contractor : Zambezi Electrical

Total Cost : $1474.00 (GST included)

The new lighting was installed 27/08/2013 and has reduced our electricity consumption significantly.

Due to this reduction this work will have paid for itself in under 3 years.

Power consumption before change : 3370W
Power Consumption after change : 2770W (600W Difference)
Savings per day after change : $1.50
Payback period : 2.7 years ($1474.00 total cost / $1.50 per day = 982 days or 2.7 years)


The chart below shows the reduction in energy use before and after this piece of work.
