We have recently been contacted by an NBN contractor regarding the installation of NBN equipment at the complex.

The NBN Co. will be installing fibre and distribution equipment to the building over the next 12-18 months and once the installation is complete residents will be able to apply for NBN services.

Yesterday we met with NBN contractors on-site and discussed the possible locations for the NBN node equipment.

It was decided the best place for this equipment to be installed was in the corridor between units 31/32 as this is close to the existing phone lines which minimises the need for digging and installing conduit on the walls and ceilings.

The attached plan shows the proposed location.

Dear Legal Owner / Owners Corporation,

nbn network - Notice of Installation

The nbn network is Australia’s new landline phone and internet network. It’s designed to provide Australians with access to all the benefits of fast and reliable phone and internet services, no matter where they live.

The nbn network will replace most landline phone and internet networks in your area. To continue using affected services, you need to move them to the nbn network before the existing networks are switched off.

We have recently inspected and created detailed plans for installing the nbn network at the property at the above installation address. The next step is for us to access the property, including common areas, to carry out the installation activities described in Attachment 1, which forms part of this Notice. nbn and its contractors intend to undertake the activities relying on powers under Schedule 3 of the Telecommunications Act 1997 (Cth) (Act), which allows nbn and its contractors to enter and inspect land, install equipment and undertake maintenance activities providing certain conditions are met. This letter and the accompanying Important Information section is a Notice under Schedule 3 of the Act.

Installation details

nbn will manage the installation of nbn supplied equipment on your property at the above installation address. nbn’s approved contractor will install the nbnTM supplied equipment between:

15 March 2019 and 27 July 2019

nbn’s approved contractor will need to access the property during the installation and will make an appointment with the Building Manager at a mutually agreeable time during the installation period above. We may also need to return within 20 business days of installation to undertake quality assurance testing to confirm that the facilities installed are in correct working order.

Update 26/11/2019 - NBN IS NOW CONNECTED

Your building is one step closer to experiencing the benefits of the nbn™ access network

Dear Legal Owner / Owners Corporation,

You have received this Notice as we recently performed installation activities at your property as part of the nbn™ access network rollout. We’re pleased to confirm that we’ve now completed these activities.

Once the activities have been completed in the rest of your area (note: this may take several months), notify the occupants in your building that they can contact a phone and internet provider to start experiencing the benefits of the nbn™ access network. They will need to order an nbn™ powered plan before their existing services are switched off to avoid disruption of affected services.*

Important information on equipment compatibility when connected the nbn™ access network

The rollout of the nbn™ access network will involve new technologies, and some existing equipment may not be compatible with these at all times.
If you have any of the following equipment:
  • Monitored fire alarms and lift emergency phones
  • Medical alarms, auto diallers and emergency call buttons
  • Monitored security alarm systems
  • Fax machines and TTY equipment

You’ll need to do the following:
  1. Register your equipment with nbn by calling 1800 227 300 or visiting nbn.com.au/compatibility
  2. Call the equipment provider/manufacturer to check that it will work with the nbn™ broadband access network, or whether you’ll need to find an alternative solution.

Power blackouts:
Equipment connected over the nbn™ access network will not work during a power blackout. Make sure you have an alternative form of communication handy (such as a charged mobile phone). If you have a safety-critical device (e.g. a medical alarm, monitored fire alarm or lift emergency phone), speak to your equipment provider about alternative solutions.

For more information on equipment compatibility, visit http://nbn.com.au/compatibility
